Ric Peterson’s NWCASConference/Museum of Flight Video
2010 President's Message
Welcome to the NWCAS website. We are planning a powerful information conference for 2010. Our conference will be held later than usual this year, on March 5 and 6 in Seattle, because of the Olympics action in Vancouver. Our hotel will be the same Marriott that we used last year, but the rates are lower. We are planning better food, education sessions, and entertainment. The safety meeting on Friday will have a very new twist with a session led by Gerry Binnema, a highly trained human factors student with a Masters degree in System Safety. We will also be stressing aeronautical decision making and any of you actors out there that would like to volunteer to be part of a skit demonstrating some of the pilot faults that can lead to accidents such as: anti-authority (I don’t have to follow the rules), impulsiveness, invulnerability, macho (watch this), and resignation - just have to let us know what part you think that you can be a natural at. Jon Bowman has secured the Museum of Flight for our dinner and awards presentation. We’re hoping to get full access to the facility, but if not, we’ll still have a marvelous venue and ambiance for our Saturday night affair. Our performer’s showcase provides a great venue to promote your act with all the airshow producers in the region. Your attendance at the annual conference is a marvelous social and networking experience. We’re planning a new way of presenting using you tube so get your 3 minutes up there. We’ll just need the URL before the event so that Kyle Flynn, our audio video guy can set the scenes up seamlessly. Planning for our annual conference is a challenge as the board works to bring our members valuable information and airshow networking opportunities. Producers, performers, and service providers share some of the same needs, but also require good information specific to their specialties. There are a lot of events competing for the entertainment dollar. NWCAS is committed to promoting airshows as one of the top spectator/sporting events now, and into the future. In order to accomplish this, shows have to provide an excellent combination of acts as well as a great “on ground” experience for all guests. Producers and performers need effective methods for acquiring sponsorship, marketing their services and ensuring sustainability. And of prime importance - everyone involved has to be aligned and committed to safety for every aspect of the show. Whether you are an airshow performer, producer, or one of the dozens of service providers that contribute to the success of airshows, our aim is to bring you all the resources and information that will help us have safe and successful airshows. We look forward to having our site become the “go to” location for all your airshow needs. Our board of directors welcomes input from you on how to develop and improve our offerings to our membership. We are here to serve the airshow community. Mark March 5 and 6, 2010 on your calendar - we hope to see you there! Bud Granley |
